Online Plant Sellers

On my Resource Page at http://www.brainyday.com/jared/aquarium/info.htm --
under Plants and Supplies -- I have links to ten online plant sources. In
the past I have avoided any comment about these companies. Given the
continual flow of negative comments about PetSwarehouse that I've read for
nearly two years on this List, I've decided to add a warning (and figure
this is better than simply removing them). I think that you can live with
and even expect a not-so-great plant from a dealer once in a while -- after
all, you just need a viable plant and, assuming your tank conditions are OK
for the species, it will revive. Not all plants travel well and, as the
Italian say, "Non tutte le ciambelle nascono con i buchi" ("Not all
doughnuts are born with holes"). However, repeated poor, let alone
terrible, service deserves our attention and action (even if limited to no
business), just as good plants and service does. I was toying with a rating
system (e.g. stars) for plant sellers on my page, but this opens a "whole
nother can of worms" and I prefer to avoid that. Instead, I'll add a note
about searching the archives here for comments, pro and con, about these
companies.

It gives me (and I'm sure you) a particular sense of satisfaction and pride
when trading, to be able to send really nice, healthy plants when possible.
I know some commercial dealers have this attitude. BTW, if you have a good
online plant source that I've missed, please email me off list and I will
be happy to add it.

Thanks,
Jared
